£1MILLION RETAIL TRANSFORMATION OF THE ROYAL EXCHANGE GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

We're thrilled to announce that our second planning application to refurbish the 19,000 sq ft retail arcade at The Royal Exchange has been given the go-ahead. This consent will also now allow us to undertake the external cleaning of the landmark grade II listed building and implement a new design strategy for the retail units and aims to attract ‘best in class’ local and independent retailers to our development.

Speaking about the planning decision, Richard O’Boyle, said: “We undertook an in-depth study to ensure that the refurbishment plans matched our vision for the future of the building. The arcade and retail space are a fundamental part of the overall scheme. Our plans will help unlock its potential and create a stunning retail environment, which will attract quality independent retailers, many of which will be local, plus other retailers which may not currently have a presence in Manchester.”

“The consent means that we can start work straight away. Our aim is to keep the shops open during the refurbishment.”

The Royal Exchange occupies a strategic island within city’s commercial and retail area and is home to occupiers including Molton Brown, Starbucks, Accessorize, Scribbler and The Body Shop.
